We SHINE in everything we do

Our Service Promise

At P&O Cruises, SHINE is more than a promise, it’s how we live our culture every single day. Built alongside our Core Values, which are shared across all Carnival Corporation brands, SHINE helps us focus on delivering extraordinary service to our guests, while our Core Values guide how we treat one another.

These principles aren’t just words on a page, they’re actions and behaviours that create a workplace built on trust, openness and care. They shape how we interact with each other, the destinations we visit and the communities we meet along the way.

We encourage everyone to uphold these cultural expectations because they’re the foundation of who we are.

We are Dedicated

We notice the little things and act on them. We think ahead, spot what guests might need next and add thoughtful touches that turn a good holiday into a great one.

We are Knowledgeable

We know our ships, our destinations and our experiences inside out. We share that knowledge in a friendly, easy way, so guests feel confident and inspired to make the most of their holiday.

We are Welcoming

We’re warm, genuine and always ourselves. We greet guests with a smile, a friendly chat and, where it fits, a touch of British humour that helps them feel relaxed and at home.

We are Trusted

We always look the part and do what we say we’ll do. We’re calm, confident and professional and we reassure guests by handling things smoothly, especially if something doesn’t go to plan.

Our Core Values

Our Core Values are the cultural anchors that unite us, guide how we work together, help us solve problems and make great decisions, foster strong relationships and succeed.

Together, SHINE and our Core Values make sure we’re not only creating unforgettable holidays for our guests, but also building a positive, respectful and inclusive environment for our teams.

At P&O Cruises, we love to recognise the incredible people who bring our culture and service promise to life every day. That’s why we created the SHINE Awards – our onboard recognition programme designed to celebrate team members who truly embody our Core Values and the SHINE Service Promise.

The best part? Anyone can nominate, and anyone can be recognised. It’s simple, inclusive and all about shining a spotlight on those who go above and beyond. Winners enjoy a well-deserved moment in the spotlight, plus some fantastic rewards: £200, a Captain-signed certificate, a SHINE pin, and the pride of knowing you’ve made a real difference.

And it doesn’t stop there. Every monthly winner has the chance to take home the ultimate accolade: Star of the Year, voted for by colleagues across the fleet.

SHINE Star of the Year

Shrey, Receptionist

As a receptionist Shrey consistently delivers exceptional service, however, one moment stood out. When a guest lost a deeply sentimental keepsake during her first holiday alone after bereavement, Shrey responded with genuine compassion and care.

Going above and beyond, he used his own time ashore to find a replacement, bringing comfort during her journey home. This simple yet powerful act showed empathy in action and reflected our values. Backed by multiple glowing guest nominations, Shrey is a truly deserving SHINE Star of the Year.

Core Values Star of the Year

Arlene, Crew Services Manager

Arlene is a brilliant example of Core Values in action. As Crew Services Manager, she went above and beyond to support a colleague stepping into the crew manager role for the first time.

Patient, generous and always available, Arlene shared her expertise, adapted at short notice, and helped build confidence and structure. Her commitment to teamwork and supporting others truly sets her apart.
