From top-tier dramas to clever comedies, iconic actors to up-and-comers, British television and talent have deservedly been in the spotlight this year, and P&O Cruises were thrilled to help honour them as part of its ongoing partnership with the BAFTA Television Awards.
The 2026 awards ceremony, held on Sunday 10 May at London’s Royal Festival Hall, was one for the books. While the sun was too shy to make an appearance, the stars shone brightly in its place. Red-carpet host Angellica Bell was on hand to chat, have a laugh and wish them luck. She talked pre-show nerves with Aimee Lou Wood and palled around with her good friend Alan Carr, who gave a sneak preview of his reaction if he were to win the Memorable Moment Award.
When the last of the stars had walked the red carpet, it was time to head into the theatre for the ceremony. Host Greg Davies was characteristically hilarious, stating that the night was all about celebrating ‘proper telly’ and choosing his own memorable TV moment (it was when Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett drank a candle on Celebs Go Dating, if you’re curious).
The best of British and international television was in the room: Dame Mary Berry was celebrated with the BAFTA Fellowship, Steve Coogan picked up an award for How Are You? It’s Alan (Partridge), and Adolescence made history after scooping several of the night’s top honours, with Stephen Graham, Christine Tremarco and Owen Cooper all leaving as winners while the impactful drama was also named best limited series.
The moment we’d all been waiting for came towards the end of the ceremony when comedian Chris McCausland and dancer Dianne Buswell, winners of last year’s P&O Cruises Memorable Moment Award, announced this year’s winner: The Celebrity Traitors! Applause rang out as Alan Carr took to the stage to collect the blue mask trophy, asking the audience if he was truly a good traitor… or if the other celebrities were ‘just thick.’
