Alison – Assistant Youth Manager

Alison first discovered cruising through family holidays as a child. Now she’s living and working on board as a part of the Youth Team.

What did you do for work before the joined Carnival UK?

I was a Supervisor in a Nursery/Pre School setting

What initially attracted you to join Carnival UK and work at sea?

Cruising as a child enticed me to join later in life, I wanted to travel but also wanted to save money. A mutual friend previously worked at sea and shared the position on Facebook and I thought ah, may as well apply! 

What do you enjoy the most about your job in the Youth Department?

I love that first initial interaction with the children; showing them around the facility and seeing and feeling their feedback. I also love that I can be a role model to my team and enable them to grow not only within the role but within themselves. 

What do you like to do during your time off ?

I love to visit the different ports and try out the different foods available. I do shore experience escorting, that way you can also engage with guests. When sunny I love to utilise the crew deck – can’t beat a bit of vitamin D. I enjoy watching the shows in the theatre and the gym facilities and social spaces are also great. Sometimes I just like to chill and do nothing in my spare time; the best thing is that there is always variety!

What destinations have you visited while working with Carnival UK?

Croatia, Caribbean, New York, Abu Dhabi, Portugal, Dubai, Malta, Spain, France, Greece, Madeira, Norway.  That’s just a few…. The list is getting long now!
