We want to make sure that the crew who SHINE the brightest are recognised – so we have our onboard Recognition Programme, the SHINE Awards, to help us recognise and celebrate our people for living our Culture Essentials as well as our SHINE service promise. SHINE helps us to think about how we deliver extraordinary service to our Guests, whilst Culture Essentials helps us think about how we treat one another.
A huge thank you to all those who nominated a P&O Cruises colleague on board for an award last year! We’re excited to announce the overall Stars of the year for 2023 who have both won £1,500, a printed certificate and pin, and ‘star for a day’ treatment onboard!
Here area few of the nominations Royston received from some of our guests:
August 2023: “Royston took care of my friend when I was taken off the ship to hospital at the first port. He kept her informed of what was happening while I was in hospital for three days. When I re-joined the ship, he welcomed me onboard and there was a beautiful bunch of flowers for me in my room.”
“My friend was taken off the cruise ship to hospital and Royston helped me pack her bags, supported me, and offered all kinds of assistance as I was now on my own. Nothing was too much trouble.’”
September 2023: “We received a message from the care office team that a couple had been medically disembarked, were still in the hospital and had not yet been discharged. They’d asked if anyone could pay a visit to them in the hospital to help them with their insurance claim and update them, and Royston personally went to the hospital to meet the guest and stayed there for two hours to make sure they were comfortable.”
Sanah received 25 different SHINE nominations while on Iona, each of which embody our SHINE behaviours. She truly goes above and beyond the scope of her role to help our guests and ensure they have unforgettable holiday happiness. Here’s just a few examples:
“Our son is autistic and struggles getting off the ship. Sanah made sure that he had a photo of every port we went to so he could see what was happening”
“I enjoy reading the Britain Today, and on finding out this, Sanah made me aware that there was an 8-page version which she printed and delivered to me each day.”
“I’d been having issues using my phone to access the My Holiday app and couldn’t connect. Sanah did not give up and eventually got it working for me. I would have missed out on a lot of my cruise without it!”
