Just one week ago, in an incredible show of endurance and team spirit, our very own Mark Price, Nicola Robinson, Sam Cox, and Martin Dove crossed the finish line of the Beat Britannia challenge—completing a 230-mile relay run from Liverpool to Southampton.
Setting off on Sunday 15 June, the team ran in 13 – 15 mile relay blocks each day for six days—often under blazing sun—as they raced Britannia back to her home port. A huge shout out to their support team too, Neil Scott, Neil Vincent, Gareth Watt and Rob Scott who were with them every step of the way.
While Britannia cruised the British coastline treating guests to a celebratory cruise, our runners powered through towns, countryside, and canal paths, fuelled by determination and a shared mission. In the early hours of Friday 20 June, they arrived in Southampton—beating the ship and completing their epic journey!
For the running team, this wasn’t just a physical challenge—it was a celebration of teamwork, resilience, and giving back. Mark Price reflected:
“This challenge started out as a vision to test myself mentally and physically, and it’s become a reality thanks to the incredible support of everyone who’s got involved. What an amazing way to support our charity partners whilst also celebrating an amazing milestone for P&O Cruises flagship Britannia.”
Thanks to the incredible support from colleagues, friends, family and guests, Beat Britannia continues to raise phenomenal funds for two of our amazing charity partners, Teenage Cancer Trust and Saints Foundation.
In addition to our running teams’ efforts, we had a very successful silent auction, raffle and cycling challenges on-board Britannia and in Carnival House, Carnival UK’s head office in Southampton, which brought in significant donations.
A huge well done to everyone who took part and helped raise vital funds for our charity partners. Beat Britannia has raised over £14,000 and the donations continue to roll in.
