Staying in touch when aboard with P&O Cruises | Cruise Jobs & Careers

Staying in touch

We are sure you’ll enjoy your time on board, making new friends and experiencing lots of new places around the world. But you’ll also want to keep in contact with family and friends at home and share news with each other.

WiFi and phone calls

The ship uses satellite for its internet and phone call connections. You can buy credit on board for this but please be aware that this charge is significantly higher than the rates you pay at home. When the ship docks in port your phone may be able to connect to the country’s local phone network, so it’s a good idea to check with your service provider what your roaming rates are. You will often find free Wi-Fi in port terminals and local coffee shops. When the ship is at sea a network via satellite will appear on your phone, this is very expensive and it’s not recommended to use your mobile phone for calls or internet when the ship is at sea. You can however purchase phone credit onboard to use via the telephone in your cabin which offers better value for money.

Mail

You can send or receive mail from friends and family whilst on board.  If you wish to send a letter, visit the Crew Services Office during the advertised cash hours where you can pay for postage. If someone wishes to send you a letter or parcel it should be clearly marked with your name, rank and employment number, plus the name of the ship you are on and then can be sent to: Carnival UK, Carnival House, 100 Harbour Parade, Southampton, SO15 1ST, England. Each turnaround day, mail will be brought on board the ship from our Southampton office and will be distributed by ship’s staff. Your line manager will be contacted if you have mail or a parcel to collect.
